The Chief Officers' Network - your business advantage / Industries / Aviation, Shipping & Freight / Aviation / Aviation: Twitter user makes false statement about Qantas aborted A380 takeoff

So far, neither Qantas nor the Singapore authorities have said if they have identified the Twitter user - nor if any action is planned.

What in fact happened was that, after the aircraft had been pushed back at London's Heathrow Airport and was rolling towards the runway, the crew noticed an issue with the steering.

They decided to head down the runway to ascertain the scale of the problem and, after two runs, decided that further investigation was required and the aircraft returned to the gate.

It did not reach take-off speed and it did not run off the runway.

The flight is marked as "delayed" not "cancelled" and it is expected that it will take off during the night, once permission from the CAA has been obtained to fly during LHR's overnight curfew.
