Travel Warnings: Bahrain
Following increased protests and government reaction, governments are advising their citizens to take security precautions or even to leave Bahrain. On 15th March, the King of Bahrain declared a three-month state of emergency.

UK: "we advise against all travel to Bahrain until further notice. Those without a pressing reason to remain should leave" The UK Foreign Office is arranging air travel for those unable to leave by commercial means. Special warning has been given in relation to some roads in the country.
USA: "We urge U.S. citizens to defer travel to Bahrain at this time. U.S. citizens currently in Bahrain should consider departing. On 14 March, 2011, the Department of State authorised the voluntary departure from Bahrain of eligible family members of U.S. Embassy staff. Bahrain has experienced a breakdown in law and order in various areas of the country over the last few weeks."
Canada: "Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada advises against all travel to Bahrain due to the unpredictable security situation in the country. Canadians should leave now by commercial means if it is safe to do so. The situation is very likely to deteriorate further in the near future and the ability of Canadian officials to provide consular assistance may be limited."
Australia: "DO NOT TRAVEL" alert. " Australians are advised not to travel to Bahrain at this time due to the unpredictable security situation and threat of terrorist attack. Australians in Bahrain are urged to leave by commercial means, if it is safe to do so. The airport is operating normally, however, it is only accessible by the Khalifa Causeway. Australians are advised to expect long delays in reaching the airport as this Causeway is heavily congested and subject to security checks. Australians who choose to stay in Bahrain are advised to minimise their movement and stay at home until further notice. You should monitor local and international media for information affecting your safety and security. " Australia does not have an Embassy or Consulate in Bahrain.
New Zealand: "There is extreme risk to your security in Bahrain due to civil unrest and the unpredictable security situation and we advise against all travel. New Zealanders currently in Bahrain are advised to depart by commercial means, if it is safe to do so. The airport is open but only accessible via the southern bridge, which is heavily congested and there are security checkpoints along the route. Flights are operating normally. You should only travel to the airport if there is no unrest in your neighbourhood and it is safe to leave your home or hotel. "
