Users of the UK's O2 mobile network in the south east of England were off-line for much of yesterday after thieves stole hardware essential to the routing of network traffic.
Details are scant and O2 has not released an official statement but users complained that their phones across much of London and nearby were off-line for as long as 17 hours, eventually coming back on line just in time for the evening rush-hour.
O2 provides carriers services for other providers including Tesco Mobile and their services were off-line, too.
