InfoTech: The nanny-cam monitor in your pocket

Regardless of what kind of baby you are monitoring: child, business or even car, a nanny-cam allows you to take a quick look and see all's well. But it's not much use unless you can hook up your laptop to 3G when you are travelling, which is a bit of a hassle in the back of a taxi or on the crowded 7:43 from Victoria. Wouldn't it be nice if you could just hook up your mobile phone and watch? Now you can.

US company videoNEXT has launched three products for the Apple iPhone. The "Apps" are downloaded to your phone, and then you can watch your internet-connected camera.

There are three products: first, a free version that connects to a limited range of IP cameras: turn them on and watch on your phone - ideal for monitoring, say, a design office to see if the staff do any work or spend the day on the toys you provided in the hope they would encourage creativity.

Second, costing USD19.99, connects to videoNEXT's own technology and provides remote access to and remote control of cameras.

The third is an enhanced version of the second: it turns the iPhone into a remote tracker. Leaving aside privacy issues, this allows GPS tracking of the phone and the transmitting of video to videoNEXT's SKM video system as well as receiving video.
