Spam scams are so common they are rarely worth reporting on. But sometimes one is interesting - even if only because it is so ridiculous. This advanced fee fraud is just silly. Read it - don't be taken in by it. And yes, of course we'll keep it confidential as the writer asks. Not.
It's very funny because the English has a particular geographical and cultural aspect - and it's very unlikely to be someone in the USA, much less the US Army.
Oh, and the e-mail addresses have a different spelling of his name - live.com and yahoo.co.uk please notice you are being used to collect victims' responses. Again.
Hello Dear,
This mail might be a surprise to you but irequest that you should not ignore or take itfor granted. I am Capt. James Brown, anofficer attached to the US ARMY. I wasworking with the D'Company, 2nd Battalion,22nd Infantry Regiment, in Iraq. I and mycrew members discovered $700M USD in SaddamHussein's palace in April 2003 during thesearch by US troops. The money had beenhidden behind the false walls of a house.
It was thought the stash could have been leftby fleed regime leaders. We managed to moveaway a total sum of US$7.5 Million dollarscash out of the $700M USD, mostly 100-dollarbills and was quickly flown out of the warzone and deposited in an undisclosed securedand secret location outside the Middle Eastafter we had all agreed to keep it secretsince the war was still on.
But unfortunately, the rest of my crewmembers lost their lives to the wicked Iraqiinsurgents, as you know we were beingattacked by insurgents everyday and carbombs. I have kept this a secret within mefor 7years now since I am the only survivalnow and I cannot leave the boxes in thesecurity company anymore as this attractsmore demurrage as long as the boxes arestill with the security company.
I am now in desperate need of a "Reliable andTrustworthy" person as partner to assist metransfer these funds into an account andinvest it without further delay since Icannot come out openly to claim it and at thesame time five US soldiers are currentlybeing questioned by military officials aftersome of Saddam Hussein's money was allegedlystolen following it's discovery. You canclick on the web site for more details.http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/2988455.stm.
So, if you are interested in thistransaction, 65% will be for me, while youwill take 30% and the other 5% will be forexpenses that maybe incurred after asuccessful transfer or delivery. I will sendyou the full details and the location of thefunds but my fear is can I trust you? If youare willing as you receive this letter, kindly send me ane-mail(capt.jamesbroun@live.com orcapt.jamesbroun@yahoo.co.uk ) declearingyour interest including your mostconfidential telephone/fax numbers in orderto forward to the security firm forneccessary actions to commence.
Please assure me of your keeping this topmostsecret so that my life would not bejeopardized and to protect my country's imageand my name.
Regards,Capt.James Brown
