Risk Professional: Pirates in northern European seas.
We're used to notes that pirates are active in the Malacca Straits (less now due to heavy enforcement action) and off Somalia and so on, but an act of piracy in the waters of northern Europe is something of a surprise.

Interpol says that The Arctic Sea last made contact on 28th July as it entered the English Channel. The ship reported that it had been boarded by ten armed men on the 24th July but that they had since left in an inflatable boat.
The ship, registered in Malta is crewed by Russians. It has had a recent refit and then sailed to Finland where it was loaded with timber for delivery to Algeria. It was scheduled to arrive there on 4th August but has not, as yet, turned up and no one claims to have seen or heard anything of it since the 28th July.
