Broughton was the plant for the De Havilland company. There the Comet - the first commercial jet liner - and the wooden framed Mosquito, a twin engined combination aircraft held together with glue made from ants' urine (honestly) during the WWII.
And it's still at the cutting edge - Broughton makes the wings for the Airbus A380, one of a number of plants around Europe where components are made and then transported by road and a specially constructed ferry to the assembly plant at Toulouse in the south of France.
Airbus has more than 5300 orders in hand - including almost 200 A380s. It employs more than 47,000 people around the world, but in the UK alone more than 140,000 jobs are supported, directly and indirectly, by Airbus' wing manufacturing plants in Broughton and Filton (the home of Concord and - now - the next assault on the world land speed record). The plant employs some 5,000 people.
