Background

Recent political upheaval has raised the issue of dealing with deposed or resigned long-term leaders.

What are the responsibilities of financial institutions with regard to those persons after they leave power?

And how does the position differ depending on whether they are made subject to financial sanctions?

Course Director

Nigel Morris-Cotterill is Head, The Anti Money Laundering Network. Formerly an English solicitor in Private Practice, he has specialised in counter-money laundering risk management and consultancy, including developing long-term strategies for crime and legislative risk, since 1994. The Anti Money Laundering Network includes consultancy, publications (World Money Laundering Report and BankingInsuranceSecurities.Com), risk profiling software (Risk Values), face to face training and fora (The Financial Crime Forum), e-learning (Quick To Learn More) and The Society of Anti Money Laundering Professionals.

Investment

The cost per head is GBP550 per person. Two or more persons on the same booking, price per person, GBP500. Members of The Society of Anti Money Laundering Professionals, GBP500.

Value Added Tax is charged as applicable.

Payment is by bank transfer to HSBC, London.

Bank charges: you are responsible for both parties' bank charges. To avoid confusion, the sum of GBP30 (flat rate regardless of the number of persons included in the booking) will be added to each invoice in respect of payee's bank charges.

Payment on the day may be made IN CASH in USD, GBP or local currency at the exchange rate determined by us. This option is available only for bookings made in the seven days prior to the event. A receipt will be issued.

Venue

Our events (except Jakarta) are held in the City centre. The precise venue is confirmed nearer the time. In the case of Jakarta, the event is held near the airport so as to avoid Jakarta traffic – a benefit for both local and foreign delegates. Again, the precise venue is confirmed nearer the time.

Benefits

Delegates will leave with a comprehensive understanding of the background to managing the risks of dealing with politically exposed persons, draft policies and procedures for a variety of financial services products (including retail, investment and private banking / wealth management, insurance and dealing in securities), the potential consequences of failing to manage the risks and take appropriate action.

Delegates will be entitled to free membership of The Society of Anti Money Laundering Professionals (associate membership) for the remainder of 2010 and to a waiver of the joining fee.

Subsidies

This course may be eligible for subsidy from your regulator e.g. The Monetary Authority of Singapore. However, responsibility for claiming the subsidy lies with your company.

Documentation

A work book is provided for the use of delegates. This includes extracts from slides but the slides themselves are not provided. Additional reading material is provided on CD or on a USB stick in a mix of PDF and OpenOffice.Org and html files. We include a free PDF reader, OpenOffice.Org and Firefox for Windows on the distribution media. However, the documents are in a cross-platform format and users of Linux or Mac OS will be able to open them.

Meals

In Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Dubai, we can guarantee halal and beef-free meals. We cannot guarantee religious dietary requirements in other venues. We will attempt to accommodate dietary requirements for e.g. allergy purposes if notified at the time of booking.
