A1 Team Malaysia has won the first race of the 2008/09 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport season at Circuit Park Zandvoort in The Netherlands. In a rain-soaked Sprint race that started with two laps behind the safety car, Fairuz Fauzy came from fourth on the grid to take the team's first victory since Season Two, which was 27 races ago. After initially taking the lead from The Netherlands, Earl Bamber put in a great drive on his race debut for A1 Team New Zealand to take second place with Loic Duval storming through from 11th on the grid to take the final podium position for A1 Team France. Pole-sitter Jeroen Bleekemolen struggled in the extremely tricky conditions finishing fourth as the redflag came out to end the race.A1 Team France claimed the first Feature race victory of the season in extremely wet conditions. Sprint race winner Fairuz Fauzy finished second for Malaysia, losing time inthe first pit stop due to a problem with the left-rear wheel. New Zealand's new driver, Earl Bamber, put in a notable performance in both races.Recently, Andretti Green announced that it was to run Team USA which has had variable fortunes in the series so far. Andretty Green has been very successful in Indycar racing.
