F1: White label racing brings a new team to Formula One
The picture of Ross Brawn, complete with trademark stubble, on the front page of the BrawnGP website is very strange: he is wearing a white jacket and white headphones. Neither have any visible logos. But for the man who steered Ferrari to greatness, and joined Honda too late to save it, Brawn has something special to celebrate. Today he has announced that he has taken over, lock, stock but no engines, the former Honda Formula One team.

In a statement on a very sparse website, Brawn thanks Honda - and Honda thank him.
But the big part of the story is that BrawnGP will start testing on 9th March. That means that the cars will need to leave today or tomorrow for the last of the official tests in Barcelona and then Jerez. And then, it's off to Melbourne for the opening race of the season.
That's a tough schedule - especially as the two drivers - Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello, have to learn a new car complete with a new engine.
The engines will come from Mercedes - the FO108W engine.
There is a hint that the two drivers - who were without a drive for 2009 until this morning - are on one year contracts. Brawn said "our driver line up for 2009 will be..."
Brawn thanked, amongst others, the UK's Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform - whether that means that loan guarantees were made remains to be seen.
But right now, there is no hint of where the money will come from to run a team that Honda thought too expensive. The works at Brackley will remain home to the team.
It will be interesting to see what logos make it to the race.
