Motorsport: "If you can read this, I'm upside down."
In the old days when slithering down mountains with planks tied to one's feet seemed like a good idea, at least until the inevitable crash came, one of our colleagues had a slogan embedded in his skis, under the wax. It said "if you can read this, I'm upside down." It's a feeling well known to rally drivers, too.

A few days ago, Team Lotus driver Heikki Kovalainen put himself and his girlfriend Kata Hyde in hospital and then bed rest after a crash in the Race of Champions in Dusseldorf.
Heikki had "serious" concussion after banging his head hard - his scan this week showed it's all fine. Kata had a injured hip, fractured pelvis and sore legs and back.
Footage of the ROC crash and a bit of optimistic reporting is in this clip:
Perhaps Heikki had driving lessons from some of his countrymen featured in the rally video, some of whom seemed intent on not reaching the "Finnish" line.
